Coaching and Mentoring for Ministry Excellence

Introduction and Course Overview

Professional Church Workers often have many responsibilities, jobs, tasks, reports, meetings, and obligations (and the list goes on and on). Have you ever felt “being blessed” means just surviving the week? Who has time to accomplish the mission? How can a leader possibly manage a 3 to 5 year ministry plan AND deal with the day-to-day issues? The answer, in part, is investing in those you lead. Although more time consuming at first, learning a few simple coaching/mentoring tools will help your ministry focus on the mission and on the people God called us to serve. Coaching is a VERY powerful method of making disciples as well as healthy ministry teams.

This workshop teaches the basic principles of coaching and mentoring that will help ministry leaders more effectively lead by empowering others toward high-level proficiency in their own ministry roles. Some of the highlights of this workshop:

  • What is a Coach? Mentor? Defining the unique relationships of each
  • What a Coach or Mentor is NOT
  • When NOT to Coach
  • Coach the person, not the problem
  • Five critical coaching skills
  • Re-defining communication
  • Learning to listen and document
  • The benefits of empowering others
  • The most powerful Coaching tool in the world
  • The Three Month Challenge
